Whether you are launching your own skin care business or selling products as an affiliate, it is important to know and market to your primary audience. Doing anything different is nothing more than a waste of time and resources. Because the industry is so competitive, an effective and targeted campaign will give you a leg up on everyone else in the market.

Social media marketing is probably the most popular form of advertising today, and for good reason, it works! Walk down any street or through any mall. A common site will be a person looking down at their smartphone Tweeting what they are doing or checking in on Facebook. You have to use these marketing vehicles to your advantage.

Both of these social media sites are perfect for sample giveaways. You can run contests on the social media sites and give away new products. This is also a great way to introduce the product to people that are unwilling to step away from their tried and true product without knowing for sure if your product works or not. Give them a free sample and if they like what they see, they will surely be back for more. The only difference is that this time they will be paying for it!

Another great way to advertise when you are first staring out is pay per click, or PPC advertising. When used on Google, your site is ranked on the right hand column according to how much you are willing to pay per click. Many business owners use this as a way to get on the first page of Google while their site is being indexed. A properly written ad will garner focused Internet traffic resulting in sales conversions.

Twitter and Facebook also have paid advertising. Facebook works its advertising very similar to Google. Your ads pop up on the sidebar of members’ pages that have shown interest in similar types of pages. If they click on the ad, you are charged and they are directed to your main website or your Facebook page. Twitter allows you to buy advertising in the form of featured Tweets. Again, it will direct these Tweets to members that have shown interest in other Tweets related to yours.

As you can see, just because you are the new kid on the block does not mean you have to go to the back of the line. There are plenty of ways to get the word out about your product so you can start making money. If all of this seems foreign to you, our skin care marketing consultants would be more than happy to assist you in creating an effective marketing campaign for your skin care business.
